Anxiety as a factor of students' psychological adaptation to studying at a university

The qualification work considers the main approaches to the interpretation of the concept of personality anxiety, describes the psychological factors of anxiety in students and studies the psychological adaptation of students to studying at a university. Based on the theoretical analysis, anxiety is defined as a personality trait that has its own motivating force, can act as a motive or form behavioural tendencies.
The paper presents the procedure for organising and describing the methods used to conduct the study, analyses the results of the study, and investigates the relationship between personal anxiety and students' general adaptability. The selected questionnaires made it possible to establish the level of anxiety and determine whether it affects students' adaptation to studying at a higher education institution. It was found that the majority of students had a high level of anxiety, and the rest had an average level of personal anxiety. According to the results of adaptive abilities, it was found that the largest proportion of people have a low level of adaptive abilities, the rest of the respondents have an average and the smallest proportion have a high level.
Psychological tools for reducing students‘ anxiety in higher education institutions are proposed, an example of psychological recommendations for reducing students’ anxiety is given, recommendations for teachers on the organisation of the educational process to promote students' adaptation are described.
