Methods of countering social engineering for the average Internet user

Abstract

This work is dedicated to the current issue of protecting against social engineering on the Internet. The paper discusses the basic concepts, types of attacks, and methods of social engineering, analyzes popular attack scenarios, and offers practical advice on how to protect yourself from these threats. The research was conducted through a survey and practical testing of a group of people of different ages and professions. The results of the testing showed that after a short training program, the level of awareness of social engineering among participants significantly improved.
