Modern Ukrainian historiography of the Holodomor

Abstract

The paper analyzes the process of accumulating scientific knowledge about the Holodomor of 1932-1933. It also draws attention to the experience of foreign scholars who studied the famine of the 1930s. The causes, consequences, regional dimension, and number of victims reported by leading Ukrainian researchers of the Holodomor are considered and summarized. The paper also draws attention to the commemoration of the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine and abroad. The author analyzes the recognition of the Holodomor as genocide among Ukrainian scholars and the world.
